Rural Home Design

Client Mr. & Ms. Philips

Location 209 Wychwood Park London, ON

Size 2, 000 sqft

Objective The clients have decided to move into a rural area wanting a home design that supports positive social and physical environmental issues. With their budget in mind  the space layouts must be purposeful and functional with no wasted square footage. Neighbouring homes each have unique features in this rural community however they all respect and embraces the nature and landscape around them.

Design Challenge The proposed design requires interior and exterior living spaces that can be easily modified for the changing needs of a family. I have been hired to complete design concept drawings for their new home that supports the ethics of this new rural community, a group that is aware of all environmental forces and their impact on the design process. This includes the responsibility to preserve the quality of our environment.

Solution Specific space planning was initiated to allow majority of spaces to be touched by natural light promoting wellbeing and energy saving capabilities. This design allows the ability to add on an extension above the garage if they so choose to in the future with ease. All amenities and spaces are included in a functional way by creating great flow and site lines throughout the house without wasting space.
